ok, this Thursday night at around 9:30 I'm going to run a "Singalong with Steve" spot. Don't worry, I won't be singing on air unless I forget to fade the mike.

Following hot on the heels of our trip to see Josh Widdecombe, we (me and my Producer, Mrs.HBZ) went to see Adam Hills in his show "Happyism". GO SEE. It was fantastic, a really uplifting standup comedy show, had me laughing out loud for real (LOL4R). Adam spends most of the time just chatting with the audience and when he suggests buying pizza for the entire audience rather than finishing at the end of the evening, I think he really meant it (indeed in smaller venues I think he did provide pizzas!) My only regret, I wish I had the nerve to tweet him during the show and ask "#ISITOK to ask a one legged golf playing comedian what his handicap is?"...but I didn't. I may just tweet him now, he seems to enjoy it. I have much to learn but I will work hard to "use the microphone to say something" and "touch to frog". Tune in on Thursday to find out more. You know what they say "if it's too loud, you're too old"...guess I must be getting on a bit then!
We went along to a "big" birthday party at the weekend with a samba drum band - man they were loud...but oh so good. I'm not normally one for the 10 minutes drum tracks, but this was huge fun...mind you.. I was very; very drunk at the time. You know I like to bring you "things to do" on my weekly Thursday show and I normally use a website called Ents24.com which kindly send me a listing each week (another secret out of the bag!) But last weekend we headed out to "Gromit Unleashed" in the city of Bristol. 80 five foot high statues of Gromit the wonderdog hidden around the city. Many within walking distance of the city centre, we managed to bag 30. Good fun for the kids, you can pick up a map at the Gromit shop opposite the Children's Hospital in Bristol. More details from http://www.gromitunleashed.org.uk/ I had hoped to get tickets to "Imagine Dragons" at Swindon in November, buy hey - all sold out. A little annoying that I'm still getting emails saying there are tickets, but what can you do. Weird to think that this week they have been playing Lollapalooza in Chicago, and in September they are playing at the Sports Centre in Swindon. Funny old world. This weekend sees the "FieldView Festival" at Little Somerford in Wiltshire. The line up is extensive and includes a band with local links. Delphics apparently include a former student of Sheldon School, Chippenham....alongside Jamie Cullum and Gabrielle Aplin the former students of Sheldon are rocking the music world.
My only regret - I didn't check out FieldView in time ot get some tickets - looks like a cracking festival...maybe GVRadio can get there for 2014? Check out their great website (and Soundcloud playlist) at http://fieldviewfestival.co.uk/ So I failed at the first hurdle - I had set the "HBZ Player" pointing to our un-manned stream...all now sorted so the player on my homepage points to the Studio output now. Sorry for any confusion caused. I'm also setting a new output for "PURE FLOW" internet radios so you'll be able to listen to all our live shows on your Pure Flow radio. Search for Global Village Radio on your Pure Flow radio or check here (and add to your favourites to show on your radio)... http://connect.pure.com/p#!/uk/content/radio/8592168-global-village-radio Steve HBZ So me and the Production Assistant (Mrs.HBZ) and the Minions (Mstr & Miss HBZ) went to the Pound Arts Centre last night for an evening of comedy, headlined by Josh Widdecombe from Channel 4's "The Last Leg" It was a bit grown up for the Minions, but not too bad. The language a little fruity perhaps, but hey, it's the real world (my Mum would have had a few things to say, and would certainly have marched us out of the room at that age!). Pound Arts Centre is a great venue, seating a max of about 100 so it was a really intimate gig. Josh was running through his set for the Edinburgh Festival, I won't send out spoilers but there's a great set based on "Love Heart" sweets (sit in the front row and you may go home with a packet!) He was supported by Suzie Ruffle, who came on with notes and an iPhone, and was clearly building her material but very funny (I actually liked the "that will work when it's got an ending" stuff). Hopefully Howebzar went out on air as I pre-recorded the show, but of course the studio technology may have decided otherwise and overwrite what I recorded. Now my next challenge is to work out why we're sending out news from last Saturday (I'm sure it's not the women's semi final at Wimbledon anymore, unless we're in a time warp....it's just a step to the left!) I'm just back from the local school end of term show - Langley Fitzurse put on a performance of "Dick Whittington", and very well they did too (although it did feel a bit like Christmas in Australia with this current heatwave in the UK ;¬)
As Mrs HBZ (my production assistant) works at the school I get involved doing PA type things, this year using some of the kit I have developed for the shows I broadcast from home. Break-a-leg guys for tonight's performance! |
